Each season Rebecca Vallance’s luxurious collections eschew trends by creating timeless pieces that are both modern and classic. We had a chat with Rebecca about her new ready to wear collection.

Where were you working before you created your own label?
I started modelling when I was 13. I then worked in fashion Publicity for 7 years after that.

What made you decide to get into fashion design?
I moved overseas to live with my husband in Malta, Europe. The weather is very hot all year round in Malta and I couldn’t find any amazing cover up pieces that suited our lifestyle, so I developed my own. I wore them to a few events and people started asking how they could go about buying them, so I developed my kaftans into a line, which was picked up by some stores around Europe. The next step was to launch my own ready-to-wear collection, which is being released this season.
New label alert: Kyla Crozier http://theblog.thegrandsocial.com.au/news/509/New_label_alert_Kyla_Crozier Our newest label is from Sydney local and former GS employee Kyla Crozier. We were all pretty amazed when we saw her Summer collection, inspired by the colours of the Australian summer, and we're sure you will be too.

Where were you working before you created your own label?
Before starting the label I was working as the design assistant at ‘Cohen et Sabine’, this was my dream job and I had such a beautiful time working there.

What made you decide to get into fashion design?
I was always creating growing up and have always loved beautiful things. When I was young I expressed this creativity through dance, however the highlight for me was always finding out what we’d be wearing! I think I began to realise I wanted to be in fashion when I was 15, I remember sitting with my girlfriends one day, all excitedly talking about and sketching what we were going to wear to the formal, I loved it. Since then I haven’t looked towards any other career.
