Rodarte took an important step forward with their latest collection shown yesterday in New York. The collection still contained some of their trademark elements (the sash-style gathered fabrics and the nomad-esque layering) but after several seasons of pushing a raw, arts and crafts feel they have moved towards a sleeker or more refined look.
The Mulleavy sisters have also had the '70s on their minds, confirming the decade as a key theme for the season. But for them it was less disco and more Virgin Suicides (perhaps inspired from their friend and supporter Kirsten Dunst), with the sweet schoolgirl hair and wood-panel print.
Our favourite parts: the colour palette, the layering of disparate prints, the gladiator-style dresses, the lace embriodery, the amazing shoes and the move towards a more tailored silhouette.
