Natasha Poly, the survivor

20 June, 2010

It’s no secret that survival in the modeling world is tough. An endless influx of young, gangly girls from Europe has rendered the international runways faceless, with fashion commentators often unable to identify one girl from the next.

Gone are the days of the ‘90s where models were easily recognizable (Linda, Claudia, Cindy, Kate) and whilst we’ve begun to see a return to the days of old with familiar faces such as Sasha Pivovarova, Lara Stone and Natalia Voidanova, it remains no secret that the modeling world chews girls up and spits them.

Unfortunately fashion is a fast moving cycle and consequently most models have an extremely short shelf life. Survive for two to three years in the modeling world and it’s considered a blessing. Surviving six? That is an astounding achievement.

No, I’m not talking about Gisele Bunchden (we all know she is a freak of nature) rather I am talking about Natasha Poly.

One of fashion's most recognizable current faces, Poly was plucked from Russia in 2004, at age 19, and has been walking the international runways ever since. With continued support from French Vogue, Natasha has fronted campaigns for Gucci, H&M, Jil Sander, CK Jeans, Phi, Victoria’s Secret and Missoni. She has opened for Balmain, The Row, Donna Karan and Dolce & Gabanna as well as appearing on the covers of Vogue Paris, Numero, V magazine, Muse and i-D (to name a few).

Natasha Poly’s career shows no signs of slowing down, having appeared in nine editorials in 2010 and currently ranking world number 3 on models.com

In celebration of this increasingly famous face we present to you our favourite Natasha Poly moments.
