Nathan and Clea from Limedrop recently visited Japan to showcase their jewellery line at the Design Festa and catch up with their Japanese retailers. Along the way they met some crazy characters, visited some insane retail stores and ate lots of amazing food. Here they share with us some of the highlights of their trip…
Shop Limedrop here
Above: Got to love a shop that's the size of Target but full of crazy weird things for 100 Yen (about AU$1.30).

Horse sashimi. Need I say more?? We didn't try it.

Garter is a store in Koenji. It's in a run down building which fashionhayley (who suggested the store) calls the slums of Tokyo. There are a few interesting clothing stores in the building. This photo shows the hall between the two parts of the shop. There is also a cafe being built above Garter which is going to be amazing.

We ran into our friends Tony and Zoi in Shibuya on a Monday. The evening eventually resulted in this photo. Along the way we ran into the retail assistant from Cosmic Wonder, and were informed that Tony's Doraemon outfit was particularly funny since the Yakuza (Japanese organised crime sydndicates) usually wear Chanel jackets.

We went to the Design Festa to show off our jewellery. It ran for two days with 50,000 people attending. Instead of packing everything up to keep it secure overnight we employed our new patented "Pom pom security", perfect for the Japanese market. Worked a treat.

I took a lot of photos of cars, motorbikes and push bikes. This was just one of the crazier ones.

I experienced the best sushi I will ever eat in my life at the Tsukiji fish markets in Tokyo. You're not really supposed to take photo's here so this is a rushed fuzzy photo out the front.

Kyoto at night. Such an amazing city.

We thought this was a classic piece of engrish but it turned out to be Erin Wasson collaborating with RVCA.

Last day in Japan and time to sample a weird looking dessert we'd been eyeing off that looked like Soba noodles. We finally found somewhere to sit in public outside an empty shop in Shibuya, could this be the new Limedrop shop? We hope so...
