The Spring/Summer 2011 Trend Report - Our Top 5

22 September, 2011

Keep up-to-date with our top 5 trends for the upcoming season.

Lace & Crochet.

It's not quite "new" but it's a trend that has evolved over the seasons, and is looking to be bigger and better than ever! For Spring/Summer, the look is more classic - incorporating cream, white and black shades. Taking inspiration from the 60's think long hems, lace sleeves and pretty frills & bows. It's all about quality and luxury and an attention to detail. Nookie's latest collection has this trend down pat. Whether it's a skirt, an amazing maxi or a button up shirt; lace is back!

It doesn't just stop there, we can't get past the lovely crochet patterns that have been making an appearance - as seen in Arabella Ramsay's "Sunnylands" collection.

 Suede/Leather

This isn't just your typical Spring/Summer fabric. Completely trans-seasonal, we are seeing Suede and Leather pop up in all shapes and sizes. Strummer have taken the suede approach, and produced an amazing collection that incorporates sweet suede tunics, and assymetic suede skirts that would be paired perfectly with a white shirt for an edgy 70's look. Another prominent trend this season!

 Metallics.

Think along the lines of hot 70's glamour. Metallic minis, dresses and bling. Bec & Bridge have got their finger on the pulse, and the 54 mini is the glamour girl's staple. To keep it casual yet still make a statement pair it with a button up shirt and keep in line with the 70's vibe. Another prominent trend this season is the capri pant. Stopping just above the ankle, the length is flattering and lengthens the leg. The metallic capri pants from Wonders Cease are absolutely amazing and a must-have this Spring!

 Hi-Lo Hem.

Otherwise affectionately known as the "Mullet Hem". Either you love it, or you hate it - but whatever way you lean there is no denying that it's going to be extremely popular coming in to Summer! We love the Limedrop Sleeveless Tail shirt. The bright colours and button-up detailing make for an awesome day to night dress. It's so versatile, it can be worn as a long shirt too. If you would prefer to opt for something a little more understated, we suggest the Ginger & Smart Poet Cowl Back Dress, it's got just a hint of hi to low length if you're not so daring. The hi-lo is here to stay!

 Colour Pop.

This Summer it's all about colour. We see a lot of bright hues of red, orange, yellow and blue popping up as the new collections arrive. Whether you work it with eye catching patterns, or prefer to inject your colour by blocking it with a single piece - make sure it's bright! If you're a little more daring, why not try pattern on pattern? Make them clash!
