Designer Q + A: Bonnie from Seventh Wonderland

29 August, 2011

This week we talk to one half of our favourite swimwear label, Seventh Wonderland. Designer Bonnie Coumbe is currently traipsing around Tuscany, but she took some time in her travel schedule to answer a few questions about the new collection.

Where were you working before you created your own label?
My background is in the swimwear industry as well as textile design. I freelanced for such creative print houses like Karalina York were I saw my print artwork being sold across the globe as well as back home.

When did you decide to create Seventh Wonderland?
Seventh Wonderland was born 4 years ago; we call her our baby because she definitely feels like our child. We decided to create a new fresh swimwear label that embodied a new age of Australian swimwear with a hint of European flavour.

What is the signature piece from this collection?
This current season “Serafina” signature piece would have to be our v neck one piece with key hole details running down the front which gives the elusion of shape to your body in all the right areas.

Who is the Seventh Wonderland woman?
The Seventh Wonderland women we aspire to are confident independent women with a hint of cheekiness. She has a desire to reflect her own unique style.

What should women remember when selecting swimwear?
I always suggest to choice a timeless swimsuit that suits every occasion, these types generally flatter the body really well, and a black basic can never go wrong.
Also think about your body and your body shape show off your favorite area you feel most confident about. Choose what flatters your body shape over trend.

What’s next for your label?
Our SW international presence is seeing continued growth, which is very exciting for us. I was recently in the UK setting up a new sales and PR team to support the growth into the UK/ Europe market.
And of course our Australian summer starts back home so our studio is very busy at the moment delivering all the new seasons stock.

Seventh Wonderland's new collection will be landing online in mid September.
