Mexican-born Texas-based artist Gabriel Dawe, takes coloured thread into the experiential with his amazing rainbow thread sculptures.

In his latest installation, Plexus No. 4, Dawe has used 80km of thread suspended between wooden planks to create screens of coloured web. The effect is mesmerising.

Originally inspired by the strictly feminine textiles traditions of Mexican weavers, Dawe's work challenges not only our visual perception of space but also cultural stereotypes of the textiles industry.

Meticulous and beautiful, these are true labours of love. "Plexus No. 4 took me about 105 hours just to put up the thread, working about three days a week for a period of one month... It is definitely a process about endurance and concentration." Gabriel Dawe

His work has been exhibited in Dallas, Houston, Montreal, Toronto and Barcelona.
