RAFW: SassyBella gets down to the details in her Nicola Finetti guest review

6 May, 2010

We are excited to bring you this guest review from one of our favourite local bloggers, Helen Lee from Sassybella.com.  We sent Helen backstage at the Nicola Finetti show to get upclose and personal with the latest works from the King of the cocktail frock.

Nicola Finetti, a man about the details

From afar Nicola Finetti designs beautiful dresses that tick all the boxes – cool, pretty, sophisticated, evening wear, cocktail dresses and sophisticated separates. Everything you would expect from a fashion designer that has been designing for his own namesake label since the mid 1990s.

But he’s a man about the details. The little intricacies that make a dress absolutely breathtaking when you get up close and personal. So that is just what we did after his Rosemount Australian Fashion Week show on Tuesday, we went backstage to get up close and personal and it was almost better than watching them strut down the runway on the bodies of Cassie van den Dungen and Tiah Eckhart.

In a collection full of structural frocks, we gawked at the sparkling
fabrics, innovative ruch placement, fun frills, tiny weave detailing and fabulous metallic detail. The only thing that didn’t tickle our fancy was the final dress' strange frill placement that seemed to restrain the model from really strutting it.
