Every cloud has a silver lining.  That's one consolation for the designer's friend whose nasty accident spawned the inspiration for the new E L L E R Y collection.

We stole five minutes with the busy designer to talk about the new collection as it launches online.

GS:  What's your favourite piece from the collection and why?

KE:  The Rib Cage top. I love the metal sequins and how the rib embellishment sits over the top of where your actual ribs are.

GS:  What inspired the medical/human anatomy theme of the collection?

KE:  A trip to the emergency room! My friend tried to cut fire wood by banging it on a step and instead cut his finger open. It was très graphic.

GS:  Tell us about your use of leather in the collection

KE:  I love leather. I used it for a dress – the “gore-ey” dress that has a very full gored skirt. I have also used leather for some jackets; the asymmetrical one is a favourite also.

GS:  We love the setting of the shots by the water fountain – where was this location?

KE:  In the dark corners of Paris.
