Karen Walker showed her eighth back-to-back season at the Altman Building in New York yesterday.
Walker brought together two seemingly disparate inspirations with a common folk music connection – The Sound of Music and Bob Dylan – to create a collection of navy velvet suits, fluffy sheep’s wool jackets and vests, upholstery inspired brocade matching suits and dresses, cute navy winter dresses, cropped trousers and oversized knit beanies and scarves.

Walker is feeling very much at home now in New York and is enjoying a loyal following in the Big Apple for her polished. lady-like with quirks aesthetic. We were lucky enough to chat with Walker at the after party to her Spring 2010 collection, at the Soho Grand Hotel last season, where she spoke of her love for New York and how embraced she feels by the New York industry. But she assured us New Zealand will always be home!

Our favourite look: the orange oversized coat and matching suit teamed with grey rib over the knee socks and beige and gold pumps and tortoise sunglasses.

Walker expanded on her boat shoe collaboration with Pointer last season with some very cute new styles, including a brown suede Oxford lace-up, a beige patent leather and gold sole pointed pump and a tasselled loafer in a mustard suede.

We love the medieval feel of the woollen head armour and the super cute oversized purse.

Eyewear from the Sun Gods collection.
